DMC-40x0 motion controller—the highest-performance standalone digital motion controller from U.S. company GALIL.
The DMC-40x0 motion controller is currently the highest-performance standalone digital motion controller offered by the U.S. company GALIL. Compared to the DMC-41x3 and DMC-C640 series controllers, this controller series boasts numerous enhanced features: the command execution cycle has been reduced to 11 μs per command; the encoder feedback rate has been increased from 15 MHz to 22 MHz; the stepping output pulse rate has been boosted from 3 MHz to 6 MHz; and significant improvements have also been made in mitigating electromagnetic interference.
Like the DMC-41×3 series motion controllers, the DMC-40×0 can be equipped with the same multi-axis stepper motor and servo motor drivers, offering all the advantages of an integrated drive-and-control unit. Thanks to the use of a high-performance DSP with a powerful RISC core, this controller achieves high-speed data processing, real-time closed-loop precision control for each axis, and advanced event management capabilities. It provides advanced PID compensation control algorithms featuring notch filtering, low-pass filtering, velocity and acceleration feedforward, as well as sophisticated algorithms such as velocity smoothing for shock reduction, ensuring excellent dynamic and static performance across all motion axes. A high-speed, large-capacity FLASH memory and RAM are used for storing and running control programs, parameters, and arrays, enabling advanced motion control functions including multi-axis PTP positioning, linear/arc interpolation, contour control, tangent tracking, electronic gearing, electronic cams, gantry synchronization, and PVT control.
To facilitate user programming and usage, GALIL provides a simple and easy-to-use 2-character command set as well as user-friendly terminal programming and debugging software (such as GalilSuite and GDK), which can be used for program editing, I/O status monitoring, and dynamic performance debugging. In addition, GALIL offers gclib/API library functions that enable users to develop custom human-machine interface and digital control system software using high-level languages such as C/C++ and VB/VC.
It can control stepper motors, servo motors, or any combination of the two across 1 to 8 axes. It can simultaneously execute up to 8 applications and features I/O that can be synchronized with external events.
